Mastering Digital Organisation: The 9 Essential Pillars You Need to Know in 2024

July 04, 20243 min read

Digital Planning

One of the most common questions I get from beginners in digital organisation is, "Where do I start?" Whether you're new to digital tools or just want to become more organised, there are nine pillars that form the foundation of effective digital organisation (in my opinion 😊)

Let's dive into each one...

1. Scheduler

Your scheduler is essentially your calendar or scheduling app. This could be Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook or any other tool that helps you keep track of your appointments and deadlines. For a physical option, consider the Beginners Bundle, which includes essential planning tools to get you started.

Are you using a digital scheduler to manage your time effectively? Which one do you love?

2. Task Manager

A Task Manager helps you keep track of your to-dos. I love using my custom-made digital Notebooks and ToDo hyperlinked pages... you can check them out here TODO LISTS 7-Pack and here NOTEBOOKS 10-Pack. You can also use Apps like Notion, Todoist, Apple Reminders, and Google Tasks are great options.

How are you managing your daily tasks?

3. Notebook

Digital Notebooks are fantastic for jotting down notes, ideas, and important information. GoodNotes, Freeform, and even Apple Notes are excellent tools to keep your thoughts organised. Our CAPTURE Hyperlinked Notebook is perfect for this purpose.

What do you use to capture your ideas?

4. Journal

A digital Journal is a powerful way to reflect on your day, learn more about yourself, track your progress, and keep a record of important memories and events. You can choose between specific journaling apps or even use a Prompted and Themed Digital Journal (really great to help you get going if you're feeling a bit stuck). For beautifully designed options, explore our range of Digital Journals.

How are you reflecting each day?

5. Folder Structure

Creating a clear and logical folder structure is crucial for keeping your files organised, stopping overwhelm and feeling good about your work/home/self each day. This includes both your digital documents and any physical documents you might scan and store electronically. If you manage Clients, then the MEGA Client LOG BOOK will help you organise your client-related documents effectively.

6. Filing System

Similar to folder structure, your Filing System ensures that all your documents are easily accessible. Whether you use cloud storage, an external hard drive, or both, having a consistent system is key. Our Password Tracker can assist in securely managing your digital filing system.

If you have any questions about your filing system - you can ask them below..

7. Hardware

Ensure you have the right hardware to support your digital organisation. This includes your laptop, tablet, smartphone, and any peripherals like pens and external storage devices. For additional tools, check out our suggested Accessories over on Amazon..

8. Storage

Effective storage solutions, such as cloud storage services (like Google Drive, OneDrive) or physical storage options (like external hard drives), are essential to keep your data safe and accessible.

9. Habit and Workflow

The most important Pillar is developing a consistent Habit and Workflow System!

Spend 10 minutes at the end of each day reviewing your tasks, updating your calendar, and ensuring everything is in order.

This habit will help you stay on top of your digital organisation. Our 1:1 Coaching/Training sessions can provide personalised guidance to establish effective habits and workflows if you need it...
